Rapid-Pi – A Faster Way to Edit Math Equations in Office, Other Word Processors
Review by on
The Microsoft-developed Office productivity suite is a great piece of software. I use it every day and have little to complain about it. There is one thing that some users may complain about – the fact that it isn’t always that easy to edit mathematical equations in Office (in Word to be more precise).

If you share that plight, then you should know that there is something you can do. You can do what I always do – turn to software applications for help. In this regard a Trident Software-developed program called Rapid-Pi can help.
Rapid-Pi is an add-on that will work with Microsoft Office on all versions of the Microsoft-developed Windows operating system. It should be noted that Rapid-Pi doesn’t work with Office alone, it works with other text editors as well.

But before you get to use this application, you need to download it first. Here is something you are going to like: the download weighs in at some 3MB. So even on a not so excellent internet connection the download will complete in no time at all. After you download the app, all you have to do is launch the setup wizard and in a blink the app will be installed on your system.

During the development process of Rapid-Pi, Trident Software had one clear goal in mind: to make entering and editing mathematical formulae, equations and expressions in Word as simple as possible. That is precisely what Rapid-Pi offers through its text-based input method. For example, you can type (y+2)/x^2 to create a fraction with y + 2 in the numerator and x-squared in the denominator.

There are some limitations. First of all, you cannot use Rapid-Pi as a standalone application. As I’ve mentioned above, this program is an add-on for Microsoft Word or another text editor. It works on top of that editor, not all on its own. Secondly, you cannot use Rapid-Pi free of charge for as long as you want. You can use it free of charge only during the 60-day trial period. After that you have to pay for a license to keep using it.

Rapid-Pi deals with the hassle of having to enter mathematical equations and formula in Microsoft Word. It is an easy to use add-on that works with all Windows versions.

Pros
  • Works with all Windows versions, including Windows 7
  • Easy to use
  • Makes entering and editing mathematical formulae, equations and expressions a breeze

Cons
  • Free to use only during the 60-day trial period
